FAQ on Examination & Treatment

1. Preparing for Your Appointment

Good preparation helps make your examination as smooth and informative as possible.
Here you’ll find answers on what to bring and what to wear.

  • What should I bring to my appointment?
If possible, please bring any existing reports, detailed doctor’s letters or images (e.g. MRI, ultrasound). This helps us give you the best possible advice.
  • What clothing is suitable for the examination?
Depending on the question, we examine nerve pathways from the neck to the hand or from the hip to the foot. Please wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that can be easily rolled up or removed. As we use plenty of ultrasound gel to ensure high-quality images and minimize friction, we recommend bringing a change of clothes if needed.

2. How the Examination Works

So you know what to expect: Here you’ll find information about how long it takes, what happens, and special appointment options.

  • How long does the examination take?
For an initial examination, we usually plan about 60 minutes. The exact duration depends on your condition and the scope of the examination. If further tests are needed, we will inform you in advance.
  • Do you offer appointments outside regular hours?
In special cases, appointments outside regular hours may be possible by individual arrangement. Please contact us early – we will do our best to find a suitable solution.

3. Special Questions & Individual Cases

Whether complex injuries, examinations for children or special requests – here you’ll find answers to frequent special cases.

  • Treatment without permanent residence in Germany
Of course, we also treat patients without permanent residence in Germany, for example during a stay from abroad. In such cases, we kindly ask for advance payment of the estimated treatment costs before the examination begins. Please feel free to contact us – we provide clear and individual information.
  • Do you treat complex injury patterns?
Yes, we specialize in diagnostics and advice for complex injuries, especially when multiple nerve pathways or the brachial plexus are affected. With our experience, we can provide a detailed assessment even for complicated cases and give individual treatment recommendations.
  • Do you examine complaints in the back, head, or other areas?
Yes, we also care for patients with complaints related to the spine or head – for example, back pain, radiating pain, or headaches. A key focus is to clarify whether the cause lies in the peripheral nerves, the nerve roots at the spine, or elsewhere, such as inside the head.
Thanks to my many years of surgical experience as a neurosurgeon, I can expertly assess complex connections involving the head and spine and examine where your complaints come from. This gives you a reliable basis for further treatment.
  • Do you treat children with nerve injuries?
Yes, we also examine and advise children with nerve injuries – for example after birth injuries, accidents or congenital conditions. With our experience in complex injury patterns, we can offer young patients precise diagnostics and individual recommendations. Please contact us in advance – we are happy to advise you in detail.
  • Can I come if I do not want tests with electrical stimulation or needles?
Yes, absolutely. Many questions can already be clarified using high-resolution nerve ultrasound. We advise you individually and plan the examination carefully with you. Of course, we will not perform any procedure without your explicit consent.
  • Can I come if I don’t know exactly what I have?
Yes, of course. Many patients do not know exactly what is causing their complaints. We help you identify the cause and clarify together whether it is a peripheral nerve issue, a nerve root problem, or something else. We are happy to advise you in detail and plan the next steps together with you.
