Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Welcome to our Frequently Asked Questions!
Here you will find answers to important topics concerning our practice, your appointment, and billing.
How can I make an appointment?
You can easily book your appointment online using our booking system. Alternatively, you can reach us by email or phone during our office hours.
What should I bring to my appointment?
If possible, please bring any existing medical reports, doctor’s letters, or images (e.g., MRI, ultrasound) with you. This helps us to provide you with the best possible advice and care.
What should I wear for the examination?
Depending on your individual situation, we may examine nerve pathways from the neck down to the hand or from the pelvis down to the foot. Please wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that can be easily moved aside or removed.
We use plenty of ultrasound gel to continuously display the nerves in high quality and to minimize friction of the ultrasound probe on your skin. We therefore recommend bringing a change of clothes if needed.
How long does the examination take?
For an initial consultation, we usually plan about 60 minutes. The exact duration depends on your specific condition and the scope of the examination. If further tests are needed, we will inform you in advance.
How do I find the practice?
Our practice is easy to reach — whether by car, public transport or on foot. You can find all details about how to get here on our Directions page.
Are parking spaces available?
Parking is available directly at the building. The most convenient option is parking area P1, which is located right next to our practice building. Detailed information, including a site map, can be found on the parking page at rez.de/parken.
Is the practice accessible for patients with disabilities?
Our practice is largely accessible. If you need assistance, please let us know in advance — we are happy to help.
How is my data protected?
Your data is treated with strict confidentiality. All processing is carried out in accordance with current data protection regulations.
How does the billing process work?
Our practice is a private medical practice. Billing is carried out according to the German medical fee schedule (GOÄ). After your appointment, you will receive a detailed invoice that you can submit to your private health insurance or aid office.
Patients with statutory health insurance are also very welcome and can of course use our services as self-paying patients.#
For a neutral explanation of the German Medical Fee Schedule (GOÄ) in English, please see this external resource provided by Feather Insurance:

What costs should I expect?
The costs depend on the type and scope of the examination or treatment. We are happy to inform you in advance about the expected costs. Please feel free to ask us at any time.
Who covers the costs?
Private health insurers and aid offices generally cover the costs. Please check in advance with your insurance provider which services are reimbursed.
Please note:
The statutory health insurance (GKV) does not cover our services and will not reimburse the invoice.
High-resolution nerve ultrasound is currently not adequately covered by the statutory health insurance catalogue. Many practices therefore offer this examination as an individual health service (IGeL). Our fees are comparable to usual IGeL rates.
Of course, you are also welcome to use our services as a self-paying patient.
Do you offer flat-rate fees?
Please note that we are not allowed to offer flat-rate packages. Billing is always carried out according to the GOÄ, based on the actual services provided.
However, we are happy to agree on a maximum cost framework with you in advance to give you cost certainty.
Who pays if I am referred by an insurance company?
If you are referred to us by an insurance company or insurance carrier, that provider will generally cover all costs incurred for the examination. Please bring any relevant documents or the invitation letter from your insurance company with you. In such cases, the scheduling of the appointment is usually initiated by our practice on behalf of the insurer.
What if I need to cancel my appointment?
If you are unable to keep an appointment, please cancel as early as possible — but at least 24 hours in advance. For online bookings, you can easily use the cancellation link in your confirmation email.
Please understand that we reserve this time slot exclusively for you without any waiting time. If you cancel at short notice or fail to attend without notice, we reserve the right to charge a cancellation fee of €75.
Thank you for your understanding and support in helping us plan reliably.
Will I receive my test results and images?
Yes, of course. You can receive all measurement results and reports on request, as well as video clips of the nerve and muscle examinations. If you wish, we can edit the recordings with dynamic colour markings or labels — please note that additional costs may apply depending on the effort involved. Files can be provided on a USB stick, as a download link or on CD.
Do you offer preventive check-ups?
Yes, in many cases an early assessment can help to detect nerve compression or strain in time and prevent later complications. High-resolution nerve ultrasound is very suitable for evaluating early complaints — even if there are no clear symptoms yet. We will be happy to advise you individually on meaningful preventive options.
Do you offer appointments outside normal office hours?
In special cases, we can also offer appointments outside normal office hours by individual arrangement. Please contact us in good time — we will do our best to find a suitable solution for you.
Can I come if I have no fixed residence in Germany?
Of course. We also treat patients without a permanent residence in Germany — for example during a temporary stay. In these cases, we kindly ask for advance payment of the expected treatment costs before the examination. Please speak to us about this — we will provide transparent and individual information.
Do you also treat complex injuries?
Yes, we are specialised in diagnostics and counselling for complex injuries, especially for damage affecting multiple nerve branches or the brachial plexus (plexus brachialis). With our experience, we can provide a detailed assessment even for complex cases and give you individual recommendations for treatment.
Do you examine spinal problems or headaches?
Yes, we also care for patients with complaints that originate in the spine or the head — for example, back pain, radiating pain or headaches. One of our core strengths is the differential diagnostic assessment of whether the cause lies in the peripheral nerves, the nerve roots in the spine or the head itself. This allows us to examine precisely where your complaints come from and recommend suitable treatment.
Do you treat children with nerve damage?
Yes, we also examine and advise children with nerve injuries, for example after birth trauma, accidents or congenital conditions. Thanks to our experience with complex injury patterns, we can provide young patients with precise diagnostics and individual recommendations. Please contact us in advance — we will be happy to advise you in detail.
Can I come even if I do not want examinations with electrical stimulation or needles?
Yes, absolutely. Many conditions can already be clarified with high-resolution nerve ultrasound alone. We advise you individually and carefully coordinate the examination with you. Of course, we will never carry out any examination without your explicit consent or that you do not want.
Can I come even if I do not know exactly what I have?
Yes, of course. Many patients do not know exactly what is causing their complaints. We help you to narrow down the cause and find out whether a problem originates from the peripheral nerves, the nerve roots or another area. We will be happy to advise you thoroughly and plan the next steps together with you.
My question is not answered here — what can I do?
